Odyssey acquires Interdom
Odyssey Logistics & Technology (OL&T) has acquired Interdom Partners, one of the largest intermodal rail companies in the US and one that has experienced double-digit growth over the past three years. "OL&T is very pleased to add Interdom's intermodal services to our portfolio," says OL&T president and CEO Robert Shellman. "This strategic acquisition facilitates our drive to expand our capabilities supporting both the domestic and international shipping markets. The entire Interdom staff and management will remain with the company and continue under the leadership of Rick Rudie, Interdom's founder."
Having pioneered independent stack train services, Interdom was the first company to offer independent double-stack services for steamship carriers, OL&T reports. It now provides intermodal services to some 60 international steamship lines as well as numerous non-vessel operating common carriers (NVOCCs), freight forwarders, customs brokers and beneficial owners. "Being part of OL&T allows Interdom to continue its expansion with excellent synergies for our customers and suppliers," says Rudie. "We expect a seamless transition into the OL&T organisation."
"We continue our focus on providing broader service offerings, a larger transportation network and advanced technology to lower costs for our customers," Shellman continues. "Over the past 18 months, OL&T has concluded five acquisitions of companies that are each leaders in their market segments, and Interdom has demonstrated its ability to deliver significant market value in a US transportation sector that will continue to expand rapidly in the coming years."
