Odfjell moves into LPG

Odfjell has confirmed that it has acquired two 9,000 m3 ethylene tankers from Berlian Laju Tanker (BLT). The tankers, Gas Lombok and Gas Sumbawa, are due to join the Odfjell fleet later in the third quarter. Odfjell says it is re-entering the LPG tanker sector as it has proved to be stable while offering continued growth potential. It also says it has the know-how and competence to operate in the sector. “Our brand name and global marketing/operational network will give us a competitive advantage,” the company says. It also promises to “evaluate further investments” in the gas market.
