Nordenia spins off big bags
Nordenia has spun off its flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC) and liners business through a management buyout. The business of Nordenia Deutschland Emsdetten, the company says, will be merged into Empac GmbH while that of Nordenia Polska Starogard will become Starpac. The move will allow Nordenia to further increase its focus on the production of FMCG packagings, which currently account for around 90 per cent of its total turnover.
"Together with the management of Nordenia Deutschland Emsdetten, we examined various sale options," says Nordenia International board member and chief operating officer Andreas Picolin. "With the management buyout, we have found the best solution for all involved. The management and the 160 employees in Emsdetten and Starogard are in a good position to successfully continue the business model."
Both Empac and Starpac are equipped with their own production facilities as well as laboratories for quality assurance. They will also maintain their own in-house R&D departments. "We are going to continue to focus on flexible bulk packaging materials made from fabric and film for the chemical industry, the pharmaceutical industry and the food industry," says Empac managing partner Richard Sievers. "And where it makes sense, we will also continue to work with Nordenia."
