Noord Natie still building

Noord Natie Terminals has acquired a 6-ha plot of land with a quay length of 400 metres adjacent to its facility in Antwerp. This brings its total available quay length to 2,000 metres. The company is currently evaluating different scenarios for developing the land, depending on future market conditions.

Noord Natie is progressing with its existing expansion projects. Following the addition of 17,800 m3 of new capacity in 13 stainless steel tanks, which came online in January, six more 1,800 m3 stainless steel tanks are currently being installed for commissioning in June. Another eight 4,000 m3 tanks will then be added before the end of the year. This latest round of building will take overall capacity at the site up from 253,000 m3 in 220 tanks at present to close to 300,000 m3.

During 2010 Noord Natie has fully incorporated its sister company, Antwerp for Storage (A4S), which was originally established as a joint venture specialising in the bulk storage, warehousing and drumming of chemicals. Expansion of the facility has also necessitated changes in the site’s internal logistics, with additional weighbridges, automation systems and an integrated order-to-cash system all due to come online this year. This will allow higher throughput of product via road and rail loadings.
