Lauritzen Kosan plans expansion
LPG shipowner Lauritzen Kosan has placed an order for six 3,700 m³ fully pressurised gas carriers at Yangzhou Kejin Shipyard in China for delivery between December 2009 and the end of 2010. Jan Kastrup-Nielsen, president of Lauritzen Kosan, says: “The newbuilding order is a result of a very constructive cooperation between Lauritzen Kosan, Shanghai and Changjang Ship Design Institute, a Chinese engineering and design company, in the creation of a modern pressurised gas carrier which can be used for the growing Chinese coastal and inland waterway trade as well as international trade.”
This order brings Lauritzen Kosan’s newbuilding portfolio to a total of 12 owned vessels with a further three newbuildings due through additional partners to the managed fleet.
Lauritzen Kosan’s total fleet consists of 60 gas carriers ranging from 3,000 to 9,000 m³.
