Late changes to ADR

The UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) has made some minor alterations to the texts amending the 2013 text of the ADR regulations, as approved at the 91st session of WP15. These should be noted alongside the consolidated list of changes published at the behest of the WP15 (HCB May 2012, page 3).

Readers should note the following significant issues.

1. In the new special provision 363 (HCB March 2012, page 15), at the end of the introductory text, “if they meet the following requirements” is replaced by: “They are not subject to other provisions of ADR if they meet the following:”.

2. Also in SP363, sub-paragraphs (i) to (v) are renumbered as (a) to (e).

3. Paragraph 9.2.2.6.3 is amended to read:

Electrical connectors between motor vehicles and trailers shall have a protection degree IP54 in accordance with IEC 60529 and be designed to prevent accidental disconnection. Connections shall be in conformity with ISO 12098:20044, ISO 76384 and EN 15207, as appropriate.

4 ISO 4009, referred to in this standard, need not be applied.

4. Paragraph 1.6.1.21 is amended to read:

Training certificates for drivers conforming to the model applicable until 31 December 2010 issued by Contracting Parties until 31 December 2012, instead of those conforming to the requirements of 8.2.2.8.5, may continue in use to the end of their five year validity. HJK
