FTA updates conditions of storage

The UK Freight Transport Association (FTA) has updated its specimen Conditions for the Storage of Goods. The model document provides transport companies and their customers with clear, concise and understandable guidance on the responsibilities of both parties while goods are in storage. It can be used as part of a contract in its complete form or as a template for modification to meet particular requirements.

The specimen conditions include such aspects as loading and unloading, the responsibilities of the respective parties, dispute resolution, insurance and claims, liabilities, consignment notes and receipts, and a separate section concerning the storage of dangerous goods.

The conditions are available free of charge to FTA members and any other interested party. They can be downloaded from the FTA website at www.fta.co.uk/services/publications/conditionsofstorage/.
