France signs up to ADN

France has become the ninth party to the ADN Agreement covering the transport of dangerous goods by inland waterway in Europe. Its approval document was lodged with the UN on April 3. The Agreement entered into force in France on May 3 and the annexed Regulations will apply to traffic on the Rhine and Moselle river networks as from May 3, 2009. France's approval excludes the provisions regarding the recognition of classification societies.

The other eight parties are: the Russian Federation, the Netherlands, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Germany and Moldova.
