Den Hartogh commits to covenant
Den Hartogh Logistics has signed an “enforcement covenant” with the Netherlands Transport and Water Management Inspectorate (IVW), a body that oversees dangerous goods regulatory compliance. Den Hartogh says IVW aims to reduce the number of inspections at companies with which a covenant has been concluded. Initially, the duration of the covenant will be two years. During this period Den Hartogh says it will implement improvements suggested by IVW. Moreover, in cooperation with IVW, the company will study new measures to improve road safety, including steps targeting fatigue management. After that period, an evaluation will indicate whether there will be an extension to the arrangement.
“This is good news for us,” reports group managing director Pieter den Hartogh. “Regular consultation and good cooperation with IVW will enable us to raise the compliance with laws and regulation within our company to an even higher level. Only by cooperation and exchange of knowledge can we realise innovative ideas. Therefore working on improvement together is the basic idea as far as we are concerned.”
