Debro concentrates on chemicals

Canada's Debro Chemical has sold its Debro Pharma arm to Unipex subsidiary Unipex Solutions Canada in order to concentrate its efforts on expanding its speciality chemicals business. "We are extremely pleased with this outcome and feel Unipex is well positioned to carry on the high level of service excellence that Debro Pharma has built its long and successful reputation upon," says Debro president and CEO Bill Heise. "The divestment of Debro Pharma is consistent with our forward strategic planning process focused on expanding and strengthening our core chemical distribution business in Canada and to that end is a very positive outcome for both parties."

Based in Ontario, Debro Pharma primarily sells globally sourced active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) to key customers within Canada and the US. "Until now, our North American distribution activities in the pharmaceutical sector were mainly focused on excipients," says Unipex CEO Patrice Barthelmes. "The acquisition of Debro Pharma allows our North American operations to benefit from the valuable resources joining our sales and regulatory teams and to offer a whole new range of products to our customers."
