BASF picks Viachem

Viachem, a Texas-based fine and speciality chemicals distributor established by industry experts in 2006, has been selected by BASF as the North America distributor of Protectol PE (Phenoxyethanol), a versatile solvent that Viachem will now supply in drums and intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) to customers drawn mainly from the personal care, cosmetics, inks, adhesives and chemical manufacturing sectors. "The Protectol brand is an excellent fit for Viachem and the Viachem sales model is an attractive option for BASF as they expand sales within existing markets and serve a wider range of customers," says Viachem president and CEO Mike Efting.

News of the deal follows in the wake of Viachem's recent appointment by Vertellus Health and Specialty Products to distribute its speciality line of salts and solutions across the US. "We've chosen to partner with Viachem because we see them as an extension to our team," says Bradley Buehler, Vertellus's global sales director. "Viachem has assembled an impressive organisation that has logistical expertise and technical expertise rarely seen in service-oriented partners," he continues.
