Airgas buys and builds
Airgas, the largest US distributor of industrial, medical and speciality gases and welding, safety and related products, has acquired the assets and operations of Tri-Tech, a Tampa-based distributor of industrial, medical and speciality gases and related supplies. Operating 16 sites across Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, Tri-Tech commands revenues of around $31m per annum. “We are thrilled to welcome more than 110 Tri-Tech employees to the teams at Airgas South and Airgas National Welders,” says Airgas executive vice-president and chief operating officer Mike Molinini. “This is a well-run business with a reputation for exceptional customer service,” he continues.
Further west, Airgas has broken ground at its new 650 m2 cylinder fill plant, warehouse and distribution centre in Kapolei, Hawaii. Slated for completion in June next year, the new facility will be operated by Airgas West. “This new facility represents Airgas’ ongoing commitment to serving the diverse needs of Hawaiian businesses and communities,” says Sam Thompson, president of Airgas West. “We greatly appreciate our role in supporting the Pacific Rim Basin and are proud to be able to contribute to the economic vitality of the Kapolei region with this long-term investment.”
