Three years of research have been put into examining why containerships continue to lose boxes overboard with depressing regularity and into developing some recommendations to try and put a stop to it. The Lashing@ Sea project, which has involved the Dutch, UK and Swedish maritime administrations under the leadership of the Maritime Research Institute of the Netherlands (Marin), will make a number of recommendations to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).
